Firefox Re-Import Passwords into new installation

If you are backing up an instance of Mozilla Firefox and want to Re-Import your saved credentials, you will need to enable the option to Import Passwords. To do this follow these steps:

  1. Open your Firefox browser and type about:config into the address bar, then press the Enter key on your keyboard.
  2. If prompted, click Accept the Risk and Continue to open the Advanced Preferences screen.
  3. Type signon.management.page.fileImport.enabledinto the search box.
  4. Click Toggle to change the value from false to true.
  5. Close Firefox.



The import passwords feature is now enabled in Firefox and credentials saved in a .CSV file can be re-imported into Firefox

  1. Open Firefox and click Menu (three lines) in the top right corner, then select Passwords.
  2. Click More options (three dots) and select Import from a File....
  3. Select the .csv file with the saved credentials and click Open.
  4. Click Done.

Your passwords data has now been imported to Firefox.
